Where can I buy QuickBooks®?

QuickBooks® Software is available in most retail stores where computer software is sold.  We recommend purchasing a CD copy of the software (versus a download copy) in case of computer issues later on.  
 

What are the system requirements?

Can Quicken do the same thing as QuickBooks®?

Quicken is specifically designed to handle personal finances while QuickBooks® handles small business finances. Each product is tailored (features, reports, and workflows) to meet the needs of those specific audiences.
 

Is there a version for Macintosh users?

Yes. QuickBooks® for Mac is the leading choice of Mac small businesses for fast and easy financial management.  The software also has the option of saving the data into a PC format, to make giving the data to your accounting easier.
 

Can I use QuickBooks® to run my payroll? Is payroll included?

Yes, you can process payroll through QuickBooks® Desktop.  It requires buying a module that will provide you with the tax tables.  Please visit QuickBooks.com for more information.

Can QuickBooks® handle credit card payments?

Yes. You can accept all major credit and debit cards right in QuickBooks® — with QuickBooks® Merchant Service, the only credit card processing solution that's completely integrated into QuickBooks®. This module is sold separately. Additional fees, conditions, and terms apply.

Can I run multiple companies from one copy of QuickBooks®?

Yes. You can run as many companies as you want from one copy of QuickBooks® Desktop. Of course, you'll still need a separate license for each user of QuickBooks® if you have multiple users.  In QuickBooks Online - you will need to purchase a subscription for each company you want to set up.

How can more than one person work on QuickBooks® at a time?

The Multi-user mode in QuickBooks® Pro and Premier (Desktop Versions) allows up to 5 users to collaborate on the same company file at the same time. All users must be networked and must each have their own QuickBooks® license.  QuickBooks Online includes multi-user functions.  The number of users allowed is based on the lever of subscription you purchase.
 

How can I restrict access to certain areas by individual user?

You can create “users” to access the company file. When creating the users, you will be able to set up permissions for areas that a particular user has access to. However, just because a user is “restricted” in one company file, doesn't mean that if the same user opens a different file, they'll have the same restrictions. They could create a separate company file and have full access. So rights are restricted based on which company file you open, not to the application. There's no feature that allows someone to restrict areas based on the installation on the system.

Will I outgrow QuickBooks®?

QuickBooks® offers a wide range of solutions for virtually every business, from those just starting out to those which have grown bigger and more complex. As your business needs change, you can upgrade to other QuickBooks® products with more features or more capacity easily and painlessly — all of your data goes with you.

What if I decide QuickBooks® isn't' right for me?

You can try QuickBooks® financial software for up to 60 days at no risk. Intuit guarantees that it’s easy or your money back: if you're not 100% satisfied for any reason, return it within 60 days with your dated receipt for a full refund of the purchase price.
